Christopher Motl

Chris Motl is Senior Executive Vice President and President, Commercial Banking at Webster Bank, a leading commercial bank with more than $70 billion in assets. Chris leads all of Webster’s Commercial Banking business segments including Commercial Real Estate, Middle Market Banking, Sponsor & Specialty Finance, Equipment Finance, Asset Based Lending, Treasury Management, and Private Banking.

He joined Webster in 2004, as the co-founder of the company’s Sponsor & Specialty Finance Group. He was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2018 and responsible for leading the continued expansion of Commercial Banking. His role further expanded in 2022 upon the merger with Sterling National Bank when Chris was named Senior Executive Vice President and President of Commercial Banking assuming leadership of the combined Commercial Banking team. Prior to joining Webster, Chris worked at CoBank as vice president.

Chris serves on the board of Travelers Championship. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
