On February 1, Sterling National Bank officially became part of Webster Bank, N.A. (“Webster”), bringing together two established, high-performing organizations to create an even stronger organization with more ways to support our clients and communities.

Here’s What You Can Expect:


Keep Banking
As Usual

This change will have no immediate impact on your day-to-day banking. Continue working with your current Relationship Manager or banking center, use the same checks and mobile applications, and log in to the same online services at snb.com. All your accounts and services will work as usual.



Our executive management team will include Sterling’s Jack Kopnisky as Executive Chairman and Webster’s John R. Ciulla as President and CEO of the combined bank.


Banking Center

Sterling banking centers have changed their name to Webster Bank. While we work to unify our products and services, please keep banking at your current banking centers.



Over the long term, we will integrate our operating systems, improving your range of choices in banking solutions and expanding your banking convenience while preserving the key advantages of both banks. We’ll keep you fully informed of our progress, including any changes and enhancements to your accounts, so you’re ready to take full advantage of the many new benefits our combined organization will deliver.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will this affect my day-to-day banking?
After the merger is complete, you will notice that the signage, the name on the entrances, banking forms and other materials inside Sterling financial centers will change to Webster Bank. You will also see our new name once you log in to online banking and our mobile app; but rest assured, they will work the same as always, and you can continue banking as usual. You will have the same accounts and account numbers, and the same Relationship Managers and Bankers will still be here to serve you.
Will my Sterling checks and debit cards still work after the merger is complete?
Yes, you can continue using your existing checks and debit cards. Any new check or debit card you request after we become Webster will reflect the bank’s new name.
Will my ATM access change in any way?
No, Sterling ATMs will retain the same capabilities, so you can continue to rely on them for your deposits, withdrawals, and other day-to-day banking needs. In addition, once the merger is complete, you will be able to use any ATM in the Webster network to withdraw cash and make account inquiries with no ATM fees being assessed.
What about my Sterling treasury management services?
After the merger is complete, continue to log in to these services via snb.com. There are no changes in functionality, and your login credentials will remain the same.

Whom should I contact if I have questions?
We will update you as we progress through the merger process, but please reach out to your Sterling Relationship Manager or financial center if you have any questions about the merger or for assistance with your existing accounts, loans and other financial solutions. You can also call a Contact Center Representative for Personal Banking (855.762.7500) and Business Banking (855.274.2800) Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
My app didn’t update on my Android phone; how can I conduct my banking?
Not to worry, If you are an Android user, you can still use the current application with the SNB logo and continue to do your banking without interruption. If you were presented with an option to update your app and you chose to “Update Later” you can go to the app store, locate the app for your accounts by searching for “Webster SNB Mobile”, download the app and perform the update.
