  • Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs) that finance affordable housing, community facilities and small businesses.
  • Community Development Corporations (CDCs) that focus on revitalizing the areas in which they are located; typically, underserved neighborhoods that have experienced disinvestment.

We have a dedicated community development lending team that provides pre-development, construction and permanent financing to for profit and non-profit developers of both affordable workforce housing and supportive housing for seniors, veterans, homeless and disabled individuals.

We provide equity by investing in Federal and State Low-income Housing Tax Credits, Federal and State Historic Tax Credits and New Markets Tax Credits for multi-family, mixed-use and mixed-income developments that help to economically revitalize neighborhoods.

FHLBB’s Affordable Housing Program

As a Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston (FHLBB) member bank, Webster can work with housing organizations (sponsors) to apply for grants or subsidized advances to support homeownership and rental housing initiatives for low- to moderate-income households.

We partner with HUD-certified affordable housing counseling agencies throughout our CRA footprint and offer a variety of mortgage products for low and moderate-income individuals and families seeking to purchase an affordable home.

We provide technical assistance and capital for small businesses and community facilities, including charter schools, childcare centers and health care centers. We also provide SBA guaranteed loans to small businesses through Business Banking.

Financial literacy and homebuyer education

We offer customized financial literacy seminars in partnership with schools and non-profit organizations covering such topics as basic banking, household budget planning, understanding and repairing damaged credit and preparing for home ownership.

Strengthening Communities Through Sustained Partnership

Webster Bank believes strongly in empowering people and strengthening communities by expanding access to capital and resources. As part of our comprehensive Community Investment Strategy, we’ve established Community Advisory Councils in our New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island/Massachusetts markets. These collaborations help us to strengthen meaningful community connections, and to set impactful short- and long-term goals. Our Councils are comprised of leaders of 30 nonprofit organizations that span the arenas of affordable housing, small business, CDFIs, workforce development and economic revitalization.

Abode Alliance

Abode Alliance, fka as The New York Mortgage Coalition, is a nonprofit collaboration of financial institutions and community housing agencies focused on expanding the opportunity for responsible and sustainable homeownership to minority, and low and moderate income individuals and families in the five boroughs of New York City, and the surrounding counties.

ANHD

ANHD builds community power to win affordable housing and thriving, equitable neighborhoods for all New Yorkers. As a member organization of community groups across New York City, we use research, advocacy, and grassroots organizing to support our members in their work to build equity and justice in their neighborhoods and city-wide.

Through community development, Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) advances racial, social and economic justice for Asian Americans and other systematically disadvantaged communities, guided by our experiences as Asian Americans and our commitment to civil rights.

Housing Help Inc.

Founded in 1966, Housing Help Inc. is a not-for-profit organization helping families access safe, decent affordable housing and to develop the financial skills necessary to maintain their home.

Hudson Valley EDC (HVEDC)

HVEDC works closely with a mosaic of business, academic, government and community leaders to collaboratively navigate and shape a brighter economic future for the Hudson Valley by driving business innovation, attraction and expansion throughout the region.

WHEDco

WHEDco’s mission is to give the South Bronx access to all the resources that create thriving neighborhoods: from high-quality early education and after-school programs, to fresh, healthy food, cultural programming, and economic opportunity.

Women’s Enterprise Development Center

The Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC) opens doors to business ownership for low-to-moderate income women and minorities in Westchester and the Hudson Valley.

BBA

BBA provides Black business owners with access to funding, personalized business guidance, and a supportive community, aiming to turn challenges into opportunities. Our focus is on creating a path that’s clear of the financial and systemic hurdles historically placed in the way of Black-owned businesses.

Career Resources, Inc.

Career Resources, Inc. provides job search assistance, occupational skills and credentials training, reentry services, workforce readiness, and employer opportunities offering resources and services to employers.

Community Economic Development Fund (CEDF)

The Community Economic Development Fund (CEDF) mission is to strengthen neighborhood economies by providing flexible financing, technical support and educational opportunities to businesses, community organizations and initiatives in communities throughout Connecticut.

Community Partners in Action

The Community Partners in Action mission is building community by providing services that promote accountability, dignity and restoration for people affected by the criminal justice system.

Hartford Community Loan Fund

The Hartford Community Loan Fund provides and promotes just and affordable financial services that benefit low-wealth residents of the communities we serve.

Housing Development Fund

The Housing Development Fund’s (HDF) mission is to facilitate the development of affordable rental and homeownership opportunities by helping households become and remain owners of affordable homes, as well as financing affordable rental opportunities for low- and moderate-income households.

Local Initiatives Support Corp (LISC) CT

LISC works in Bridgeport, Hartford, New Britain, New Haven and Waterbury, helping local organizations develop affordable housing and create partnerships that strengthen neighborhoods by enhancing resident quality of life, expanding economic opportunity, and closing racial, wealth, health, and opportunity gaps.

Mutual Housing Association of Greater Hartford, Inc. creates communities of opportunity by developing and managing high-quality affordable housing, while engaging residents in educational and leadership opportunities.

Nest, formerly NHS of Waterbury, builds strong neighborhoods and communities of choice through affordable and comprehensive housing development, financial education, and furthering home and community ownership.

Women’s Business Development Council

The mission of the Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC) is to support economic prosperity for women and strengthen communities through entrepreneurial and financial education services that create and grow sustainable jobs and businesses across Connecticut.

Allston Brighton CDC

Allston Brighton CDC leads initiatives that create and preserve affordable homes, foster community leadership, and provide first-time homebuyers with the tools and resources to reach their goals.
