Sean M. Umhafer

Sean Umhafer is Regional President for Suburban New York covering Long Island, Queens, Westchester, and Lower Hudson Valley markets. Based out of the Bank’s Jericho, N.Y. Regional Headquarters, Mr. Umhafer leads a group of commercial bankers, delivering Webster Bank’s customized financial solutions to middle market businesses located primarily in the Tri- State area, with the ability to market select opportunities in expanded geographies throughout the Mid-Atlantic and New England markets.

Mr. Umhafer has more than 30 years of commercial banking experience. Prior to joining Webster in 2017, he served 14 years as Vice President & Team Leader with M&T Bank’s Middle Market Banking Division on Long Island.  Prior to that, Mr. Umhafer held various management positions at Dime Savings Bank of NY and its successors, Commercial Bank of New York and State Bank of Long Island.

Mr. Umhafer earned his Master’s degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton and his Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Oneonta.  He has served as a member of numerous boards for various organizations.
